Is English the biggest “most successful” lingua francas in human history? Or has there been bigger ones in the past?

Obviously due to technology etc I was thinking how maybe we’re in a age of having the biggest Lingua Francas in human history, which is crazy to think about. Or have there been any bigger ones throughout history ?
