If it were possible, would you devote your whole life to learning languages, doing nothing else (on a professional level)?

This is a draft I saved three months ago, and I don't exactly remember what exactly was I going for when first writing it.

However, here is my question - if you could spend your entire professional life ONLY on learning languages, would you do it?

What I mean is - usually, knowing a foreign language is either an additional skill (say, you are a law graduate with fluent Italian and French, which opens up some possibilities for you), OR it's a requirement for a job (e.g. a translator).

But let's assume you could spend your entire life on learning languages while getting paid for it, but you MUST NOT do anything else that earns you money. So, you get paid for LEARNING (not even knowing) forieng languages, and that's the only thing you do.

Would you like that? Why or why not?
