My partner is currently living in Europe to study English. We both communicate in English because it's our only shared language, but I would like to find some activities that help her practice her English in an more active manner than watching a movie with subtitles, or talking about random stuff. Something that will expose her to different contexts and vocabulary, while being fun and not feeling like classroom games. She's already at a ~B1 level.
If any of you have had a similar experience, what are some of the best recommendations you would have for others?
Here are some of the ideas I've already thought of:
- Video games: something co-op like It Takes Two or A Way Out, or that you can still play together like Telltale's TWD series (which is like a dialogue-heavy interactive movie).
- Board games: guess who, 20 questions, anything two people can play together and that involves conversation. I would like to find something like Cards Against Humanity but tailored for 2 players. Any specific recommendations are welcome.
- Trying out new challenging cooking recipes together, which is good for incentivizing conversation about both the food and other general topics.
- Do some of those online questionnaires for couples, which basically give you a list of conversation topics.
- Escape Rooms: we aren't a big fan of this one but maybe others might enjoy the suggestion.
Anything else? Thanks!
