So it seems there is the original Anki and a copycat Anki.

Seems like everyone recommends using the original one, but from a quick look the UI seems dated while the copycat looks well designed.
What's the reasons to use the original over the copycat? They both mention the use of spaced repetition. Seems you can import decks into either one. The copycat seems slightly more expensive (not a deciding factor).
I'm looking to use the product with the best learning experience, whether it copied it's features from another app is irrelevant to me, most apps do this.
Which one do you use and why? Why do people keep saying not to use the copycat? Is there an actual reason or are they just regurgitating what they read somewhere?
