One of the things that boosted my language learning trameendously was watching a show in a completely foreign language to me but having the subtitles in my target language. That helped me more than any book or articles did in vocabulary learning especially when it comes to the coloquals and common words away from the academia or language of literature. I didn't see this trick anywhere and realized that it maybe unusual.
What else is unusual or unheard of that you used while learning language and it made a great change for you?
