Languages with formal grammar rules can it be used sarcastically?

To add onto my post from watching a show normally in German and just listening, they use “Sie” a lot to be respectful however, I noticed a few times people would use it when being rude or doing something to purposely annoy another.

Is that a normal thing similar to how someone would be sarcastic by calling someone “sir” or “ma’am” after showing clear annoyance?
