I'm about to begin my journey learning Russian, for various reasons: reading the country's literature, making new friends, (eventually) expanding my translation repertoire... This is my first time actually learning a language a) as an adult and b) by myself. I'm a bit nervous as to how you keep that positive attitude throughout the years you dedicate, as I imagine you may hit some steep slumps.
By the way, I ordered that New Penguin Russian Course; from what I gathered it was a good starting point. Any other crucial sources I should look into? Thanks in advance
