When do you think it's possible to try to read a book in another language?

I'm wondering when I can jump straight to reading a full book in french, although I'm a begginer still (started learning a month ago). Maybe forcing myself in a situation where I am surrounded in my target language can help, or maybe I need to have a strong foundation first?
