Learning a language on your own

Hi there,

I would like to learn another language but scared about developing bad habits or wrong pronunciations. Do you think it's fine to just go ahead and learn another language through online resources and easily fix the above potential problems later? I'm a bit strapped for cash so I can't afford a private tutor/classes to correct any issues that might arise instantly.
