Anki is the only thing that really works for me to learn new words, so I used it a lot with French. But it took me like 10-20 minutes each day making only ~20 cards. That's probably your case. It was not until recently I found a way to create Anki cards in a lot easier and faster way.
The answer is using Google Sheets.
1. Create a Google Sheet file. I structure my file as following: First column the Sentence in the target language, second column the word/expression I want to learn, third column the translation.
2. What you should do next is to click at the third column first line and paste this : =GOOGLETRANSLATE(A1; \"DE\"; \"EN\"). Where there is \"DE\" you should put your target language abbreviation. French is FR, Portuguese is PT, German is DE, etc.
3. All you have to do now is to click where it shows in the picture above and drag down so all the lines in the column have this same functionality. That will automatically translate the phrases you put in the first column. This alone will spare you a lot of time.
4. Now you want to add the cards to your Anki deck. Download this Sheet file as an Excel File.
5. Open this Excel file and save it as a Unicode Text.
6. Open that Unicode File and save it with the codification as UTF-8, as shown above. Now they're ready to be imported.
7. On your Anki Home page, click in browser. The window above will open. Click in Fields.
8. This window will open. Click in the \"Add\" button, create a new field and save it. In my case, I called it \"Front2\"
9. Close that window and click in Cards.
10. Click in \"Add Field\" (blue arrow). A new window will open. Now select the field you just created (red arrow) and click \"Ok\"
11. You will see that a new field (in blue) was created. That's where your \"Front2\" is in the front side of your card. In order to properly separate the two fields, I recommend you to write what's inside the red circle. You can also customize it if you want. (Do you see the font family, font-size, font-weight and etc.? You can edit all that if you want. At the right side you can see how the final result looks like. Save it.
12. Now again at the Home Page, go File>Import. Select that text file you saved. This window will open. You see that \"Field mapping\" over there? Put each field exactly as show above. Click \"Import\".
And that's it. Now you can create dozens of Anki cards in literally 1-2 minutes. This trick really saved my life and a lot of time. It seems hard at first, but after a time you just get used to.
This method is really good if you are the type who creates a lot of cards at once. Now you can just create them at Google Sheets and "mass import" on Anki.
Of course you can customize as you wish, you can create new fields for images, for example.
