Looking for tips as an adult learner; seems like everyone wants to sell something.

I am an old (barely on the right side of 40) and have decided to take up seriously learning a language.

I’ve really been itching to learn Russian for the past few years and decided to finally dive in. (I am using a textbook with internet lessons as my main resource, Pimsleur for pronunciation, and Memrise for vocabulary)

I’ve been looking for YouTube videos or articles with tips for language learning, especially as an adult and it is excruciating trying to get through the ads - and then everyone that has a video has sponsors to hawk or their own product to sell and it’s just getting old.

Does anyone have some good tips for learning when you start feeling overwhelmed with the amount you need to learn to make sense of even a BBC in Russian headline? Any older learner success stories? Balancing work/family/etc with trying to learn?

TLDR - seeking tips while avoiding advertisements
