Hey everybody! I was recommended to post here, so here I am. Hopefully you wonderful polyglots can provide some valuable insight.
So what I am trying to figure out are some words or phrases that you consider "must learn" when starting out with a new language. These don't need to necessarily be particularly useful in everyday life, if you just want to learn how to say "turtle" in every language, that's fine.
And for purposes of narrowing it down, I'll ask of the words and phrases you want to know would be different if it is a sci-fi/fantasy language (like elven, klingon, drow, gnomish, etc, far less likely to ask "which way to the bathroom")
