Presenting Fluento for Japanese learning

Hi guys, We are the Fluento team and we would like to present to you the website we have just launched, called Fluento!

We want to share with other people the methods that worked for us while learning, and the things we could have improved to make this process faster. Of course, at the end of the day, living in a country were people speak the language and consuming content in the target language is, for us, the best way to approach its learning. But we hope that Fluento can be helpful when it comes to reviewing the things that you already know, even if you have no chance of practicing in real life scenarios.

At the moment, we only support Japanese and we have split the content in levels according to the official exams. We would like to add some other languages, but we are unsure which ones would be more welcomed by the community. Other languages would also be split in the official exams levels (e.g: A1, A2,...).

We use mnemonics for the vocabulary learning and small quizzes for the grammar. All the content is quizzed once in a while according to our Spaced Repetition System algorithm. And one cool feature we have is that users can hibernate the concepts they don't want to learn (or already know) so they will not appear in their lessons or reviews. And they can learn the concepts instantly, without having to follow the predefined order to get to those concepts!

We would really appreciate any feedback from other learners. This is definitely not the last version, and we will add content as we go, so things can change a lot, and the best for us is if we get feedback from people who might use it. We are specially interested to know which languages would you like to see in there. We feel this method is extremely helpful with languages that contain pictograms, such as Chinese, Japanese and Taiwanese. But other people have been using our first version of Fluento (which is now closed to new users) and they have been learning Spanish (but sadly we only have vocabulary for it right now!).

We would also like to share our roadmap (in order of priority), maybe you guys also have some requests or recommendations that you can give us:

  • Finish the Japanese content
  • Opening the content section so unregistered users can also access the website for reference. - Add resources section for each of the concepts.
  • For each of the levels, create some content on how to improve, better grammar explanations and some reading and listening materials in a form of a Blog.
  • Community section to ask question and help each other.
  • Release an app

Thanks for the time and happy learning :)
