widely spoken language vs rare language

I am just curious what language would be more benfecial and would you rather / want to learn . a widely spoken language , advantages will be being able to communicate and connect with more people . disadvantage you won't feel unique and by that I mean for example if you are applying for a job that requires this language you might find hundreds others who speak the language better than you . the competition is high and you won't feel like you own a special or unique skills that can distinguish you or make you standout from others either in you career or in daily life .since there are million of oeople who already speak the languages and so many non natives seakers who learnt the language and maybe speak it better than you

opposing to a rare language , when you will defenitly stand out and if a job calls for this language you will be more likely to get since there won't be a lot if competition also you would feel like you have a unique skill that not everyone can litterally do it . but the disadvantage is that you will be able to connect and communicate inly with a much smaller pool of people .
