Does anyone have any success stories with learning a language with a lack of resources?

I’m attempting to learn Zulu currently. However, the lack of resources has been super disappointing. I was wondering to hear from people who have persevered in learning a small language such as an African language despite a shortage of resources and what methods you went about using?
