Are there any browser extensions that allow for typing diacritical marks similar to Babbel when using an English keyboard?

As far as I've come across Babbel has the most convenient method for typing diacritical marks while using English keyboards. For instance, Ö is automatically converted when you type O:, and É is E/. Does anyone know of any online tool that allows a user to type diacritics in a similar manner while browsing or in an application like Google Docs? Having to search for "special characters" or use a keyboard that doesn't actually align with my computer's keys distracts me from learning. I appreciate your help.
