is it common to forget grammar of your TL that you learnt at the beginning of your journey?

I've been learning English for two years and a half, I can speak it with a certain degree of fluency and I can understand almost anything I listen to but I noticed that I forgot the difference between "Will" and "going to" and this actually surprised me because I find it a bit stupid that I forgot this grammar and I actually can't use it properly at this point, has this happened to any of you before?
