I've heard a lot of non native English speakers talk about how they learned English by watching a TV show. How do you learn a language (or at least gain considerable progress in it) by watching something? I've been studying my target language for years? But I feel like I don't pick up new words when I watch a show. I just hear the words I already know when they say them.
