Often times in sports either prior to the start of a game or after a big play you can read the lips of the athlete on screen. I would claim that a majority of the time an athlete is shouting in celebration, some variation of “Let’s go!” is coming out of their mouth. Does anyone have any idea if this is strictly and English language phenomenon or possibly even just an American thing? If so, are there any analogs or equivalents that are of similar ubiquity in other languages or parts of the world during sporting events? I would be very interested to hear them, their direct translations, and practical interpretations.
