Tips on teaching English

Hello, I'm looking into doing some volunteer work that involves teaching immigrants and refugees English and was wondering if anyone has any tips.

I've never done anything like this so I'm not sure if I'd be a good teacher which makes me a bit hesitant to sign myself up so I'm reaching out to this community to see if anyone is willing to share their experiences. Thanks!
