“why is bread masculine”, my sister texted me.

For context, we are both English speaking natives. (I’ve taken ~5 years of French).

This just happened lol. My younger sister just texted me “why is bread masculine” along with a screenshot of her Italian Duolingo lesson correcting her on the correct gender to use for a word.

I was confused for a second, but then realized that she doesn’t know that objects are gendered in many languages. She didn’t believe me, so I told her to Google it. I just found it funny.

I’m not sure if I should tell her how annoying it can be in the future!
