Hello all, I hope you are well. In the Dargwa language, many family members are named differently then in any other language I know. Father, mother, brother, sister all have their own words. But the rest are specific to the side of the family they come from. So for example there is no word for grandfather. Father is atta so my father's father is my attata. Mother is aba so my mother's father is abata. Same goes for grandmother, aunt, unkle etc... So I wonder, where does this come from and are there other languages where this is the case?
