I’m a native English speaker learning Spanish and the other day I was with some friends and things started to get a bit heated. I wanted to alleviate the tension with a “let’s calm down” but I could not for the life of me find those words. The only thing that sprung to mind was “tranquilo” (calm down). This resulted in me saying “let’s have some tranquility”- something I would never think of saying without this Spanish influence.
