Is it strange that when I was learning Italian in college (with a little knowledge of the language beforehand) that I would mispronounce words on purpose?
I never said words “wrong” but I wouldn’t say them in a strictly Italian way, I would say them like my classmates (ie with a strong American accent). Meanwhile in irl Italian conversations I didn’t do this and was even told that my accent wasn’t very noticeable.
Anyone else do/have done something similar?
Just wondering as in the near future I may be taking up classes again and don’t know whats more cringe, hiding proficiency or coming off as showy.
