I am a native English speaker, currently learning Swedish as my second language. People are quite surprised when I tell them and don't understand why I wouldn't learn French, Spanish or German as a second language. The truth is I really struggled learning the basics of those languages at school and learning Swedish now has given me the confidence of being able to speak a second language with few difficulties. Has anyone else learned a second language that isn't the norm for billingual speakers in your country?
