When should I start using Assimil, and which Assimil book should I use?

I started the Pimsleur french course and I was wondering if I should wait until I finished it, or if I should do them side-by-side.

Also, what Assimil book should I use? I definitely want the audio as well, and there are a lot options to chose from, so I am lost there.
