Word learning by spaced repetition. Effectiveness?

Hi there!

How are you? I hope everything is fine. I'm on the quest of learning a new language for the first time in my life.

In that sense, to what extent does learning words by using methods like Anki will assure a certain knowledge of the language? What I mean is that: would it make sense to sit down and try and learn 3000 words of my target language in a period of, let's say, 6 months? If I complemented it with classes (where I could practice listening and speaking), to which level should this word learning technique lead me to?
