Is Duolingo worth using (even just for building a foundation) if I'm trying to be fluent in Spanish?

I'm aware I won't reach fluency through Duolingo alone, but if I'm going to start building a foundation, is Duolingo worth the time (considering also that it's free)?

I’ve actually been using it for a couple of days now (I also tried it out years ago with French but stopped), and I’m satisfied with my progress, I just wanted to see your opinions on whether it’s a worthwhile option.
