Languages turned unreadable through time?

Is there an example of a language whose words meaning have been modified to the extend that now is virtually impossible for a modern reader to understand what the texts is saying.

Notice the question is not oriented to the evolution on the individual characters that compose the text making it unreadable (let's say modified to use the modern alphabet but preserving the word) but to the meaning of the words changing so much that now its quite confusing for a morder speaker to follow up with the text contents due to the new meanings words have adopted as time pases by where its original (real) meaning has been forgotten
