Language learners who have learned through SLA/Comprehensible input based methods: How has your experience with it been?

Did it work for you? Have you successfully acquired a second language this way? I am very into SLA (Second Language Acquisition) theories and the benefits of input/comprehension based learning and would love to hear your experiences with these methods.
