1 year, maybe 2, is about my timeframe to learn conversational Thai. I just want basic conversational skill: getting around town, talking to girls, that sort of thing. No professional reasons to know the language and no need to read or write.
My thought is that if I seriously remember 6 words per day and consume media I should be able to understand Thai at an okay level. If I recite verbally and find a way to practice speaking, I should be able to plug any speaking gaps.
Is that assessment overly optimistic or do you guys think this is realistic?
