Question about the Teach Yourself books Kindle edition

So recently I've looked more into the series and the books are amazingly cheap, especially when compared to subscription based services.

However, when comparing to the Ebooks on the teach yourself webpage the ones sold on Amazon are much cheaper. Is it because of the fact that those are kindle only? And I also read that the sound doesn't play at times. Is that true?
