I'm using Duolingo and Pimsleur, sometimes I also watch TV in the language I'm learning, currently German, however one thing I haven't really tried is getting a few dozen common words and then trying to learn them on their own, can you learn them effectively by doing so or do you kind of need to use them in specific sentences to make them stick?
