Yesterday I was listening to the baseball game between the Red Sox and the Diamondbacks and learned that Wilmer Flores of the D-backs didn't know a word of English when he came here to the States. He was born in Venezuela and learned English by watching every episode of Friends as it came on television while he was in New York playing for the Mets. I just thought it was cool that he leaned a whole new language just by watching a television show and no formal training of any kind.
I'm not sure how fluent he is as I've never heard him speak, but it's still a neat thing to know about.
