I speak Spanish fluently, and I can understand Italian. A Portuguese speaker can understand both, but Italian and Spanish speakers cannot understand Portuguese without some background knowledge of the language. I was wondering if this sort relationship could be similar with other languages.
Like Bengali and Hindi?
Or maybe Norwegian and Swedish?
Or other languages from similar origin?
