I can learn nouns very quickly, but learning verbs is about 90% slower for me to get in to long term memory.. What is going on?

I can look at a noun 1-3 times and remember it almost permanently, but for some reason I just can't get verbs into my head. I keep forgetting the definition. Is this a common thing? Do you have techniques to improve it?
