alveolar, post-alveolar, or palatal?

with regards to the ⟨ɹ⟩ sound in English, is it alveolar, post-alveolar, or palatal?

r/https://www.thinglink.com/scene/856166777451708416 here it is palatal in the chart

r/http://www.speech-language-therapy.com/images/pvmchartEnglish.png here it is post-alveolar in the chart

r/https://www.internationalphoneticassociation.org/sites/default/files/IPA_Kiel_2015.pdf
here in the official IPA chart, the ⟨ɹ⟩ sound is under alveolar, thanks!

I'm really confused about the inconsistencies!

Just for some background info:
I'm in Canada (North American English)
and I never majored in linguistics (so I'm not familiar with technical terminology, so I would appreciate more of a layman's explanation) thank you!
