Planning to go to Italy for language learning purposes

So I've been learning Italian for quite a while and I'm planning to travel there to immerse myself with Italian culture and language.

The thing is I'm not quite sure how to approach the situation. I want to talk to as many Italian people as possible but how do I do it? Do I sit in a coffee shop all day and try to start conversations? Do I approach people on the street 'Yes Theory' style? I'm not scared of being awkward it's just I'm seeking the right path if there is one.

Are there people who traveled for language purposes out here? Thanks in advanced!
