I've recently had some experiences where I'm switching from Spanish (my L2) to English my (L1) multiple times in one conversation because one person doesn't feel comfortable with their Spanish so they change the conversation to English.
Afterwards, when the conversation changes back to Spanish, I find that my brain has to almost "load" the language. It takes me time (2-5 minutes) to get back to what I would call fluent in Spanish but before that my brain feels all jumbled and I hate it.
Does anyone else experience this? Is this called "code-switching", or do I have that term mixed up?
