Japanese is the exception. And the Indo-European languages come from only three branches:
Romance: French (3), Italian, Portuguese (2), Spanish (5)
Germanic: Danish, Dutch, English, German, Swedish
Slavic: Russian, Croatian
N.B. Belgium and Switzerland account for more than one language (didn't include Rumansch in Switzerland or German in Belgium).
