Learning a new language from a different one

Hi! I'm a Brazilian who speaks Portuguese. But I also know how to speak English pretty well.

Now I want to learn French on an app (Duolingo). But it only comes in English.

I was wondering how hard would be to learn a new language (French) with another one on basis (English).

Does anyone had ever done that? Was it more difficult? Any tips?
