How do you read things in your target language?

When reading something in your target language, how do you go about it:

1.) Just marking things you don't understand as you go along, but not stopping and only going back to translate/look things up once you're done?

2.) Stopping each time you run into something you don't understand, to look it up?

3.) Something else???

And whenever you do look it up, what do you do with this new word/phrase/sentence - notes? Flashcards? Or (intentionally) do nothing?

I'm still a beginner Spanish learner, finding things to read in Spanish, and trying to figure out how I should approach them once I do.
