The core parts of a language are speaking, listening, reading and writing. Now, I get how a private tutor could help with speaking and writing, but how can a private tutor actually teach listening and reading?
I'm looking for a new private tutor (tutors actually) and want to use my time wisely as the hourly rate is steep. I know that there are many of you out there who have gotten a private tutor, what are your tips, what should you get from a private tutor, what should you be able to do after a lesson (a certain category)?
In short: what can a private tutor teach you that you can not teach yourself (or at least, where hiring a private tutor is far more efficient than doing it yourself).
