Without words, no concepts?

Hi! I'm trying to remember the term for the linguistic phenomenon where without words, people's brains can't grasp a concept. Like, if I didn't know the word "cat," I would see a small fluffy thing with a boopable nose, but my brain would have difficulty remembering it accurately, and even if I saw a picture of a cat later that day I might not be able to connect the two as being the same thing because I wouldn't know that cats were a thing.

What's the word for this?
